As part of the World Food System Center Research Symposium, we are organizing a workshop on practical negotiation methods to address complex problems. Participants interested in enhancing their communication competencies are welcome to attend.

November 13 2024: Science & Policy Talk: Evidence use in Environmental Policy: Barriers, Best Practices, and our Roles as Researchers

Dr. Benjamin Hofmann will share his experiences on how you can prepare for a career at the interface between science and policy.

In the Science and Policy Talk series professionals working in different roles at the interface between science and policy explain how they contribute to linking science and policy and give us insights in their career pathway.

This talk series is an offer as part of the PhD program in Science and Policy but all interested early career scientists are invited to participate.

20 & 21 November 2024: Capacity Building Workshop on Effective Science-Policy Collaboration in Biodiversity Management (full days)

We are co-developing a capacity building workshop on effective science-policy collaboration for biodiversity conservation.

The workshops is co-organized by the Blue-Green Biodiversity Research Initiative, the UZH PhD Ecology Program and PhD Science and Policy Program, ValPar.CH Project and the Translational Center for Biodiversity Conservation.

The workshop is offered to PhD students and early-career researchers of Eawag, WSL, ETHZ and UZH.

December 5 2024: RESPONSE Symposium 2024

On December 5 (2-7 pm, ETH Zurich, Main Building, Audimax), we are celebrating the imminent completion of the RESPONSE doctoral program «RESPONSE - to society and policy needs through plant, food and energy sciences»

We are celebrating the great achievements that have been accomplished at the interface of science and policy as well as science and innovation by the
28 doctoral students from ETH Zurich and University of Zurich together with their collaborators.

We are convening a workshop for stakeholders in September. The aim is to discuss progress made in ENGAGE and discuss ways to further improve the science-policy interface in Switzerland.

21 June 2024: Stakeholder Dialogue: New Genomic Techniques, Agroscope, Zurich, 09:00 - 14:00

The use of new genomic techniques such as CRISPR-Cas in plant breeding has great potential, but - like all new technologies - also raises concerns. Questions about feasibility, benefits, risks, acceptance and regulatory framework conditions are currently occupying society and politicians. In view of the upcoming consultation on the implementation of Art. 37a para. 2 of the Gene Technology Act, a dialog event is being held at which important stakeholders in this debate can meet and exchange views.
